The Uffizi is one of the most famous museums in the world for its extraordinary collections of ancient sculptures and paintings (from the Middle Ages to the modern age). The history of the site on which the building was built is curious: the entire neighborhood, which was rather run-down and degraded, was one of the main places of prostitution, so Grand Duke Cosimo had that place razed to the ground in order to build the location of the Judicial Offices which would bring together the 13 main Florentine magistracies in one place.
